CONGRATULATIONS!
If you’re seeing this page, it’s because you’ve been recommended to lead a life group. A Life Group
Leader is one of the most important roles here at CenterPoint. Outside of a Sunday, our Life Groups
are the primary way we help people Live for Christ and Live like Him.
As a result, Life Groups must be led by leaders who are knowledgeable, humble, friendly, socially
aware, and of high character.
On this page, you’ll find almost everything you need to move forward with this incredible
opportunity to serve. In the meantime, if you have any other questions, please let me know at

CENTERPOINT LIFE GROUP LEADING FAQ
At CenterPoint, we want everyone to be connected to God and to others. The main way we do this is by helping people join a life group. Life groups are supportive environments where people can make progress in their faith. They’re defined by 5 characteristics: A loving environment where people learn about Jesus, lend a hand to others (service), laugh together (fellowship), and leave a legacy (sanctification).
That’s okay. Here at CenterPoint, we don’t need you to be an expert on biblical languages or the end times in order to lead a small group. If you love Jesus and have a heart for people, you’ve already got most of what you need to be a great life group leader.
That being said, you’ll never learn as much from being a life group participant as you will by being a life group leader. Every life group leader I’ve spoken to has told me about the tremendous impact leading a group has had on their relationship with Christ, knowledge of God’s Word, and developing their spiritual gift(s). There’s no challenge like leadership… and God equips those He calls to it.
That’s no problem. Depending on your campus, we may have room there or we can pair you up with another person who will host the group at their house.
Your group will dig deeper into Sunday’s messages for the first 2 months of meetings. A 1-2 page curriculum will be accessible to you that will help you lead the meeting from start to finish. It includes good icebreaker questions, a brief biblical background on the main text you’ll discuss, questions to get the discussion going, and even what to emphasize during prayer. Our message-based curriculum not only helps everyone continue to process Sunday’s message, it also gives you time to get acclimated to leading before choosing a more involved curriculum.
If you’d like to change from message-based after your 2nd month, you can choose any study on Right Now Media. You may also request a different study but these must be approved by me at least a month ahead of time.
After praying about it, if you want to continue in the life group leadership process, there are three more steps:
- Application: We want to make sure that all our leaders have a theology that lines up with our church. So we’ve created a short application that will allow us to determine whether or not now is a good time for you to begin leading. You can access it here (takes 15-20 minutes). Please complete this within 2 weeks of receiving it.
- Gifts Test: We believe that every Christian has been given a spiritual gift for the edification of the church (Romans 12:3-8). As a result, please complete the following test and email back a screenshot so we can ensure a teaching role is the best place for you: http://fivefoldsurvey.com. Please complete this within two weeks of receiving it.
- Training: Before the season starts, we will hold a mandatory training for all new life group leaders. We will do our best to make sure there are at least 2 options for the training so you can pick the one most convenient for you.
We ask each Life Group leader to commit to at least one season (September – June). During the months of January, July, and August all life groups are on break so that more people can take advantage of our classes (Basics, Next, or Equip).
